Dr. Aung Myint creates a beautiful lip line by correcting Gummy Smiles
Gummy Smiles can cause frustration to those who want a picture perfect reflection. Dr. Myint, of ABC Dental Group is experienced at successfully giving patients the look they envision. To accomplish this, our Visalia cosmetic dentist typically uses one of the procedures detailed below:
• Lip repositioning: 1-2 millimeters of our gums normally show when we smile but for some people, 5-6 millimeters show. This means that we need to make the upper lip sit lower over the gums (aka, perform a lip repositioning procedure). During a lip repositioning procedure, our cosmetic dentist removes a small amount of tissue inside and under the upper lip which inhibits the ability of the upper lip to rise as high so lips frame the teeth without showing so much gums (reducing gingival display).
• Gum reshaping (crown lengthening): The crown refers to the visible part of the tooth. A cosmetic dentist can trim the gums to expose more of the tooth. The outcome of this is a less gummy, more aesthetically pleasing smile. In the same way, the crown lengthening procedure can be used to rid the gums and teeth of deep decay causing bloody and/or swollen gums.
We take our clients aesthetic desires as seriously as they do and in an effort to make the cosmetic dental experience a comfortable one, we offer our patients IV and oral sedation.
